Gentleness and the Realtor®

When you think of a top producing Realtor@ you often think of words like aggressive, tenacious, self reliant. While fond of applauding the hardier virtues of energy I’ve found that just like with most things in life there is a place for everything.

– Yes, you should be aggressive in you marketing program
– Yes, you should be tenacious in following up all leads till the end
– Yes, you need to be self- reliant and be responsible for your success or failure

But when it comes to dealing directly with people, I hope you all find out what a remarkable power gentleness is. The coldest Alberta winds only cause a person to put on another coat while the gentle rays of the sun speedily induce them to discard it.

There is magic power in gentle words, take a few more moments with people to truly understand their situation and work with them in finding the right solution, this sometimes means walking away from business. But you will always find peace in doing the right things.

May I make a suggestion? Don’t wait to be with a client, practice on your wife or husband, the office staff and sit back and watch how a few seeds of kindness will grow into a garden of worthwhile memories.

Country Living and the Farmers Market

As I go along in my career of selling and marketing lake property I’ve become aware how vital the Farmers market is to lake and country living. Vitality and health are two words that come to mind when I think of Farmers markets especially when we are talking about food. So many great vegetables, cuts of meat and don’t get me started on the baked goods. I believe the Farmers Market is as much a stable of living in the country to what a major grocery store is in the city.

Of course a Farmers Market is much more than that, it is a showcase of local products and goods that allows the local artists and entrepreneurs a place to showcase their hobbies and goods. I’ve bought plants, birdcages, wines, locally written books just to name a few items.

I encourage all to visit and support our local Farmers markets in Alberta Beach, Entwistle, Darwell, Seba Beach just to name a few. Find a full list of weekly Farmers Markets on the events page of our website.

May Long Weekend

Welcome back summer residents, the lake was alive with farmers markets, live bands, walks on the beach and hundreds of people working on their piers and getting their boats in the water. I was out listing and selling homes in my mobile office, oh well to each their own. The mobile office is starting to become a fixture out here in lake country as the positive response to our mobile office is overwhelming.

I encourage everyone to get out to lake country west of Edmonton and see what your local lakes have to offer. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Take a 3 mile walk on Seba Beach
  2. Enjoy Kapaskiwin provincial park
  3. Go fishing on the Seba Beach pier.
  4. Check out the baking at the WayCup Inn
  5. Take a wild tube ride down the Pembina River
  6. Play a round of golf at the Scenic Pineridge Golf Course
  7. Play Mini Golf in Alberta Beach
  8. Have a picnic at the Silver Sands community park
  9. Drive a bucket of balls at the Kokanee RV Park
  10. Check out the Knick Knacks for sale at Derby’s general store in Seba Beach.

Summer at the Lake

Wow - Summer's here!

Summer came early this week when temps hit 25 degrees Celsius on Saturday. This week we have much to be grateful for, first of off Happy Mothers day to my beautiful wife. I would like to say thank you to all those buyers and Home sellers that have entrusted me with one of there most valuable assets.

I would really like to send a special thank you to Kurt, Lynn, Hanna and Emily who have bought a home in my neighborhood. I’m really looking forward to having you as my new neighbors. This week is a short week as I’m taking a course on Thursday and meeting with one of Mentors in Calgary on Friday. The good news is we will be back for the long weekend, so anyone who wants to see or market property you can easily request my services.

First week of summer – Ice has Broken

Upon review of the forecast it looks like summer with temperatures going to 23 degrees C. this week. The landscape is also taking a dramatic change with the ice braking in the lakes (very late) and the trees all budding I predict by next week end we will be in a real summer scape.

It was great seeing all the families on their decks, getting the boats ready, kids playing, man I love the lake life. Plus I might say I enjoyed having dinner on the balcony of the Darwell Restaurant and Bar.

This has been a busy listing week as we’ve listed a few luxury estates that should be on our website later this week, one for 2,595 Million on 3. 75 acres with lots of lakefront and possibility of subdividing and one for $895,000 with use of over 1000 ft of pristine lake frontage, both are located on beautiful Lake Wabamun.

This week looks like a busy one as I have 3 groups of buyers for the week set up with another 2 listing appointments which still leaves me plenty of time for lots more business. I invite all to give me a call for all your lake needs.

Wabamun Listing

Well having gotten through my first 2 weeks back in the game after a 9 year hiatus, all I can say is Thank you. I’ve never even heard of of so many referrals from so many agents from all different companies sending me referrals. My marketing seems to have hit a nerve, especially with the public who have kept me busy with market evaluations, and the 5 who have listed so far.

Canada’s first mobile office is a big hit, everytime we take it out someone flags us down or calls it. The bathroom was even used taking out buyers.

So there you have it, a business that was needed.
